The general carpenter apprenticeship consists of three in-class blocks of school: basic, intermediate and advanced. Apprentices registered with the MLITSD can take their training at the Local 397 Training Centre
Job Readiness Programs are four-week programs that cover specific skills of the general carpenter trade. Participants take essential safety courses and receive job-specific training. Successful participants receive a four-week placement with a Union contractor.
This 12-week program takes participants through the basic general carpenter program and scaffold level one. Participants will also receive critical health and safety certification; successful participants will receive an eight-week work placement with a Union contractor.
